Thurs/Fri February 9/10 Class Time: We finished our genetic trait activity from Tuesday. We then focused on the objectives from section 1: we watched a short video on sickle cell disease, we talked about the vocabulary and completed the examples, we graded and discussed our guided reading, and then we worked on the section assessment. Homework: Chapter 3 Section 1 Assessment p. 81 #1-2 (We started this in class. Be sure to complete if you did not have time to finish).
Wednesday February 8 Class Time: Today we looked at 15 traits that were passed onto you from your parents and determined which type of the trait you have. When we finish on block day, we will try to determine the dominant and recessive form of the trait. Homework: (1) Mitosis Quiz Retakes Thursday during lunch or after school. Make sure you see me to schedule a time. You also need to have your retake form signed and turned in to take the retake.

Tuesday January 31 Class Time: We finished our mitosis diagrams books in necessary. We then completed a mitosis review activity where we recreated each step of mitosis with colored pieces of yarn. Friday November 4 Class Time: We were in the IMC today listening to a book talk about our genetics project during this upcoming unit. Wed/Thurs October 26/27 Class Time: We finished breaking down chemical formulas. We discussed the properties of acids and bases and how to test for each. We also took notes on pH scales and discussed how the scale works. We then spent most of the block completing a lab where we practiced using indicators to identify a substance as an acid or base. Tuesday September 13 Class Time: We handed back all of our work and set up the portfolios. We then reviewed the homework from last night and made sure everyone understood the process before proceeding with the rest of section 1. Class Time: We finished our mitosis diagrams books in necessary. We then completed a mitosis review activity where we recreated each step of mitosis with colored pieces of yarn. If you were not here today, you will need to do this activity at home. You can just use the colored key in place of actually using the yarn.

*Note to students on Thursday. While taking the test, make sure you are very careful with your answers and double check your work. Class Time: We were in the IMC today listening to a book talk about our genetics project during this upcoming unit.

Class Time: We completed our safety posters and then did a class activity focusing on our safety contract. We finished class by beginning to work on our study guide.

Class Time: We learned the classroom procedures for entering the classroom, Using the bathroom and getting
water, and completing our journal. We also turned in a copy of our safety contract and began presenting
safety posters.

Friday August 26
Class Time:We learned the classroom procedure for Getting your Attention. We then began work on our safety posters. I also checked in everyone's syllabus and supplies.

(1) Both safety contracts should be signed by Monday.
(2) Safety posters are due Monday.

Class Time: Today we were in the computer lab exploring our science wiki. We also received 2 copies of the safety contract and began to look over the different rules..
Homework:
(1) Have your syllabus signed by Friday August 26.
(2) Have all of your Science supplies ready to go by Friday.
(3) Pick your top 3 most important safety rules.
(4) Please have your safety contracts (both of them) signed by Monday.
Wednesday August 24
Class Time: We discussed science supplies and the syllabus. We sat in our new seats for our seating chart. We also began to learn some of our classroom procedures.
